Tribal Development
The State Government, through its Tribal Development Department, has established several key institutions in Gariaband district to support the local tribal communities. These include a District Office, an Integrated Tribal Development Project Office, the Kamar and Bhunjiya Development Agency, and three Tribal Development Blocks located in Gariaband, Mainpur, and Chhura.
The total Scheduled Tribe (ST) population in the project area consists of 85,118 males and 88,859 females, amounting to a total of 173,977 individuals. Additionally, the project area is home to 3,350 Kamar families, with a total population of 14,285, and 1,606 Bhunjiya families, whose population totals 7,199.
These initiatives aim to promote the development and welfare of the tribal populations in Gariaband district, focusing on their unique needs and enhancing their access to resources and opportunities.
